RECREATION COMPLEX "MIĶELIS" MUSEUM
We invite you to explore history and enjoy the tranquility of nature on the picturesque banks of the Mūsa River by visiting the Museum of the 'Miķelis' Recreation Complex, which features a Rural Farmstead and an Antique Vehicle Collection.
The museum was established in the 1970s when extensive land reclamation took place, and many farmsteads were leveled. With the support of Ivars Jansons, the chairman of the "Uzvara" collective farm, buildings typical of 18th–19th century Zemgale rural estates were transferred from several old farms in the Bauska area and rebuilt. The museum was first opened to visitors in 1978 as an Ethnographic Open-Air Museum.
Alongside the rural farmstead, an agricultural machinery collection was created. Special attention was given to the tractors used in the Latvian countryside during the first half of the 20th century. Today, the Antique Vehicle Collection has been expanded to include passenger cars. The collection features more than 100 various technical units, including light, heavy, and fire trucks, various agricultural machinery, as well as motorcycles and engines.
